Year 6 held a fantastic exhibition around the theme of 'Who put the Great in Great Britain'. They created brilliant projects and wonderful displays that astounded staff and parents a like.
A report written by the Year 6 journalist team will follow soon! Watch this space.
On Thursday 20th March, Old Mill marked National Science and Engineering week in school with a fabulous science assembly led by ‘Hair raising Howard’ (aka Mrs Howard) and ‘Barmy Blount’ (aka Mrs Blount), in which ’Barmy Blount’ demonstrated how to make a ’Fizz-Inflator’, ’Blobs in a Bottle’ and a ’Balloon Rocket’. For the rest of the morning, pupils took part in a variety of science experiments in school. A wonderful morning was had by all, and the children were certainly enthused about the wonders of science!
Many thanks to Mrs Blount and Mrs Howard for organising the event, and to the teachers for all their hard work in setting up the activities for the pupils.
In response to comments made by parents in the summer questionnaire about wanting more support on how to work with their child at home and support their school work, we ran our first ‘Curriculum Evening’ on Wednesday 13th November. We had stalls running about Reading, Maths, Year 6, Phonics, Handwriting, ICT, Homework and R.E. There were also representatives from our School Association and from our Governing Body.
The evening was a great success and the parents who I spoke with all commented on how useful the night had been for them and they went away with lots of ideas and ac(vi(es for working at home with their child.
