'Decs Day' has been a great success this year, many parents and grandparents turned up to join in with decorating the school. It looks fantastic as you can see from the photos. Thank you to all of you who came along to help make our school ready for Christmas.
Our annual Decorations Day is almost here. Every year we hold a 'Decs Day' where parents are invited to join the children in making Christmas decorations. It is a wonderfully festive start to the December and always gets everyone into the mood for Christmas.
We are looking forward to seeing you there.
Remember, 'Decs Day' is on Friday 30th November.
The winter craft fair, which was held on Saturday 24th November, was a raging success! Again, we would like to thank everyone who came and supported the school at this event—supporters and
parent volunteers who ran stalls and the kitchen. The biggest thank you however must go to the
members of our School Association who have worked extremely hard to organise this event.
Everyone at Old Mill says thank you for working so hard to raise funds for the school. Over £5000 was raised which will benefit the pupils at Old Mill.
‘On Wednesday 31st October, the newly formed Old Mill football teams had two thrilling matches
against TECC Year 7 girls, of which we won one. The nail biting score for the A team was 5—4 to
TECC and for the B team 9—3 to Old Mill!! The B team played a newly formed TECC girls B team,
which is why I think Old Mill came out on top. Overall, it was really good for Old Mill, as they were
our first matches and we all really enjoyed playing as a team. It the first time we have had a
football team in about 10 years so everyone at school is talking about it. I hope that other Year 5
and 6 pupils can have the feeling I did playing for Old Mill and I hope that pupils in Year 4 are
inspired to start playing for the team when they get to Year 5.’

On Thursday 8th November, our Year 5 team played a 7-a-side friendly against another Year 5
team at Glen Hills Primary, in Glen Parva. Old Mill played really well (especially as this was their
very first game as a Year 5 team!) and had several attempts at goal, butunfortunately the end score was 4-0 to Glen Hills. At the end both teams took
part in a ‘fun’ penalty shoot out and we held our own with the end result being 2-
On Thursday 15th November Old Mill played Thomas Estley Year 7 boys and WON!! The whole team
played really well, and the final score was 6—4 to Old Mill.
